A simple way to save our environment! The idea of seed bombs may sound uncanny, but the concept is much more significant and beneficial to the environment than people actually know of. Seed bombing is one of the many ways to practice active reforestation due to the fast depletion of green cover around India and this is a matter of concern to all of us.
But what is a Seed Bomb and how do we make these?
Seed bombs are understood to be a method of aerial reforestation, it is a practice meant to introduce vegetation by throwing seed balls into open space. Yes; it’s as simple as that. People have come up with a variety of ways to make seed balls but the main components involve a variation of seeds, which can be wrapped around in wet mud, clay, fertile soil or even compost. Once the ball dries up you can then throw them in areas with less vegetation. It is greatly recommended and favourable to throw these seed balls mostly during the rainy season, because when they are nourished by the rain it ensures that they germinate correctly, absorb moisture from the atmosphere and can heartily grow trees.
But you may be wondering; is there an age limit? There is absolutely no age limit to who can and cannot make, as well as throw these seed bombs. People from all age groups can do it - middle school kids, college kids or retired professionals. One can even employ local villagers to make them just like Naata Foundation has been doing for more than five years and continues to do so.
As we are becoming more environmentally conscious, we as a generation need to take the time and effort to realize that our world is changing for the worse, but there are many prominent ways to fix these problems, one of them being seed bombing. Just like some school children who take rides on trains to throw these seed balls on barren land, adults can either ride their cars or scooters to do so. This is an effortless and fun way of afforestation where you do not even have to dig; so why not have fun while making a change?
Something is better than nothing, if we are able to take the time to make the smallest change then what is stopping you from doing so? Why not grab onto this opportunity to create a small difference in our fast depleting world, that is why YOU can contact NAATA Foundation, where you can either VOLUNTEER in addition to tagging along on this journey or you can DONATE to help the cause and create a better as well as a sustainable environment for all.
